By Car
From Glasgow head north along the west side of Loch Lomond, turn left at Tarbet then drive over the hill to Arrochar and round the top of Loch Long. It’s then a steady climb to the Rest and be Thankful and a straight run through the Glen to the head of Loch Fyne.
On the way you will pass the Cobbler, the famous Loch Fyne Oyster Bar, the picturesque village of Inveraray and Inveraray Castle, home of the Duke of Argyll.
The scenery en route is truly breathtaking and it’s a journey that everyone should take at least once. Once you reach Lochgilphead and turn south on to the Kintyre Peninsula the road becomes much quieter and you can continue to enjoy the views to the Islands and beyond.
The fishing village of Tarbert is memorable for the brightly coloured buildings and beautiful harbour, a good place to pick up supplies or a fabulous curry! Follow the road round and up the hill with road signs towards Campbletown. Travel on through the villages of Whitehouse and Clachan (petrol station here), up the hill from Clachan you drop over the top at Ronachen and Seal View - look down on the right to see the basking seals on the rocks and the stunning island of Cara in the distance...welcome to The CaraPod!
Point Sands Holiday Park is just a couple of miles on from here. When you reach the double of bends in the woods you are on the home straight, continue for 1.5miles until you see the brown tourist sign for Point Sands Holiday Park - turn right here and proceed down the drive.
